REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH OR SEXUAL HEALTH

Reproductive health or Sexual health means having reproductive organs with normal functions. World Health Organisation (W.H.O) defined it as well being in physical, emotional, behavioural and social aspects of reproduction. Therefore, a society having people with physically and functionally normal reproductive organs and enjoying a healthy sex life with their partner might be called reproductively healthy. Reproductively healthy doesn't only mean having functional sex organs and healthy sexual intercourse with their partner but also emotional and behavioural interactions with other society members in sex-related aspects. Unhealthy lifestyle, pornography, practice of self sex, unsafe sex and sex ratio are some of the reasons for the degradation of reproductive health index worldwide.

Most of the people around the world think that repoductive health means a healthy sexual intercourse with their partner which is totally a wrong concept. Education about sex organs, their development and behaviour can be the solution to this problem. Due to lack of sex education, most of the teenagers and youths taking sex as fashion and pushing themselves towards an unending danger. The rate of divorce around the world increasing day by day only because of defective sex organs and unhealthy sexual intercourse. Healthy and satisfactory sexual intercourse is the natural demand of every human being. A person can be happy with limited resources but can't be happy with problematic sex life when body demands some more. Love between spouses all around the world vanishing due to this which is one of the ultimate causes of domestic violence.
Teenage is the most vulnerable stage of human life as it is the onset of rapid physical, mental and sexual development. The growth hormones and sex hormones are released in high quantity and the person experience unusual mental, physical and sexual excitements. Parents of teenagers should remain more alert as due to lack of knowledge and experience, they may involve in unnecessary quarrel, fight and even unsafe sex practices which may spoil their life forever. Teenagers should have a life under strict supervision of parents and teachers but they must be given freedom to do all the healthy activities of their choice. They should not be punished or scolded randomly for little mistakes they do. They should be consulted and explained the ill effects of all unhealthy activities. Punishing and scolding may develop insecurity, anger and arrogance in their mind which in turn retard their mental growth. A person should be aware of his/her sex organs, their development and sex life from the beginning of puberty. A girl develops physically and sexually much earlier than a boy of her same age. So, girls should get special care and treatment from childhood. A girl reaches menarche at the age of 9-13 years and experience menstruation on an average after every 28 days. Menarche is the onset of first menstruation of a girl. The time of menstruation is very tough for a girl/woman and it is even tougher for teenagers. Menstruation lasts for a period of an average 5-7 days and its a duration of rapid cramps in uterus which lead to unbearable pain in lower abdominal cavity and lower limbs. So, they need more attention as well as physical and moral support.
A man is borne with high excitement which sometime became a problem for him. A man get excited very quickly which is quite natural but this rapid excitement became his weakness when he is sexually uneducated. Lack of sex education is in some extent responsible for crime against women. A boy should be taught about sex and consulted regularly in his teen age so that he can lead a healthy life. A boy is more vulnerable to sexual problems and STD's as rapid excitement is obvious in man. Due to this, a teenager boy sometime looses his control over sexual behaviour and often involve in unsafe sex practices which may spoil his future. Unhealthy lifestyle in childhood leads to depression which sometimes became a cause of suicide.

Proper counselling and sex education through schools is the only possible and easiest way to save the future generation from the cloud of unsafe sexual pleasure which is spreading very fast specially among the youths and teenagers. Government, N.G.O's as well as scholars should come forward to spread the knowledge of reproductive health among youths and newly married couples so that they can lead a happy and healthy life.
